Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

I received this recipe from a coworker of mine more than 20 years ago.  It's one of my family favorites.

Sugar Cookies

3 1/4 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter or crisco
1/2 cup sour cream

In a large bowl combine sugar, egg, vanilla, or crisco and sour cream.

Beat for two minutes.

Add flour and stir until well mixed.

Roll out 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured board.  Cut into desired shapes.  Place on buttered cookie sheet.  Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes until done but not brown.  Decorate with your choice of frosting, sugars and/or decorations.  Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
