Simply Crochet. I loved it. Made with a ponytail holder to make the towel ring--ANY towel will work with this holder! And you can use up scraps of thread from other projects, since it hardly takes any thread! It was so simple to make, I decided to make them along with a matching dish cloth for the women in my family for Mother's Day. Join with sl st around ponytail holder, ch 1, sc as many times needed around the ponytail holder, join with sl st in first sc.
Row 1: ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc here and throughout), hdc in next 9 sts, turn.
Continue this pattern, working 10 sts across for 12 rows or desired length.
Button Hole Row 1: ch 2, hdc in next 3 sts, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, turn.
Button Hole Row 2: ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in ch 2 sp, sc in next 4 sts, turn.
Finishing Row: ch 1, sc across.
Border: ch 1, sc around the border, sl st into beginning ch 1, fasten off. Sew on your button and you're done!

ReplyDeleteIt's not permanently attached to the holder. You pull the towel through the open whole at the bottom. :)

ReplyDeleteIf I understand your question correctly, you repeat 10 HDC (2 ch and 9 HDC) across the row until you reach the desired length. Hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteCotton yarn, yes. One of the brands I used was "Loops and Threads" and that is probably why I called it thread. But it is cotton yarn--medium weight, number "4".

ReplyDeletethe ch 2 counts as your first HDC. Then you are going to do "9" more HDC in the single crochets from the foundation row. This is row one of the long flap that works straight up from the circle.

DeleteWhat a great way to use the ponytail holders, besides using them in hair scrunchies. I love this towel topper pattern and I am anxious to try it out. My towels are always slipping off the oven handle and this would solve that problem for me and my mom.

DeleteI have been making these for many years.............I use a 2 1/2inch round metal ring tho..........I call them OVEN COVERS when I sell them. But I don't include the towel. I sell them for $2.50 - $3.00...........just had craft show Saturday sold about 20 of them....Your's are really nice..... I never thought about using different colors tho....I make mine white with a colored border.......Keep up the good work.....Do you sell yours too? How much with towel?
