Window Valance

I'm really not a seamstress. That's not one of my strong suits. (And as you can see I'm not a photographer either!)  However, every once in awhile, I get the urge to sit down and sew. Because I know where my weaknesses lie, I usually choose projects that are not too complicated. Straight lines and a little bit of pressing, I can do that. This was one of my latest projects—a valance for my family room doors.

Apple Blossom Crocheted Flower Headband & Barrettes

Yesterday, I had to wait for delivery men to arrive at my daughter's new house. While I wiled away my time I whipped up a couple of new little flowers for some headbands and barrettes. They were quick and easy.

Gourmet Apple Cinnamon Biscotti Dog Treats

The first time I was involved in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life I made my Gourmet Dog Treats.  Our team took them to our neighborhood dog park and sold them as a fundraiser.  Even people who told me their dogs were finicky and never ate treats came back around for more because their dog(s) loved them.  Even the finickiest dog will gobble these up!
Meet my best taste-testers.

Crocheted Flower Headband

These work up quick.  I used the crocheted flower from the baby hat I made and glued it to a store bought headband.  Although I did have a difficult time finding small headbands.  These were purchased at Sally Beauty, but they didn't have a big selection of color choices at the time.

Crocheted Monkey Pattern

I found this cute monkey pattern on the internet.  When the daughter of a good friend of mine was expecting her first child I made one for her baby shower basket.  You can do so much with these monkeys.  Little touches give them so much personality.  I added a little ruffled skirt and put a bow on her head to turn this one into a girl.  The first one I made, I added a tie around his neck.

Sweet Baby Jacket

The instructions for this jacket can be found in Precious Pieces #542018 by BERNAT. I made this little sweater with no one specific in mind.  After I finished, it went in my "baby gift" drawer. A short time later, my niece announced she was pregnant and sure enough she had a little girl. So I wrapped it up and sent it off.  I loved this little sweater. I hope she loved it as much as I did.

Knitted Baby Stroller Blanket

My daughter-in-law received a cute bright colored stroller/car-seat sized knitted blanket when she was expecting her first daughter.  I saw it and instantly thought of this pattern.  This is a dishcloth pattern my mom has made for many, many years. I changed the size of the needles, found a soft yarn that comes in some fun colors for babies and it's so easy they work up fast!

Crocheted Baby Hats

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting their second child in August--another girl! :) We are so excited for her to join our family. So in expectation of her arrival I have been busy crocheting a few things for the new little one.
