I know we have plenty of it left to use in the kitchen when we update those cabinets--and there are a lot in there. I think one can would be more than enough for a kitchen. A small sample can would probably be enough to do a bathroom cabinet. Thanks for the follow. I will pop over to your blog and follow back. :)Cherished Handmade Treasureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07016492742891801614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5698875238963589819.post-3424061319308178532013-09-23T21:43:13.243-06:002013-09-23T21:43:13.243-06:00Thank you so much for the tips and photos. How much stain did you use for the cabinet? I am trying to judge how much to buy. I'm getting ready to start staining a crib...Hi! I'm getting ready to start staining a crib and dresser in the Antique Walnut (General Finishes Gel Stain) color. I'm SO excited to find someone that used something other than the Java. I do have a question though. In reading through the comments I see you said you used 2 cloths, one to wipe on the other to wipe off. After doing one coat yesterday I didn't have anything to wipe off and I'm wondering if I'm being too stingy with the stain gel? Maybe as I do more coats I'll see more of a buildup. Can you give me more info on the "wipe off" step? I thought it just needed to go on in a thin coat and that was that. Thoughts/tips/advice would be much appreciated!! :)<br />GladysAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5698875238963589819.post-26912913883662105602013-05-29T06:51:19.039-06:002013-05-29T06:51:19.039-06:00The General Finishes Gel Based Urethane Topcoat. ...The General Finishes Gel Based Urethane Topcoat. The cloths we used were like white T-shirt material. One to put the stain on and one to wipe it off. Go with the grain and be sure to wipe the stain in strokes from one side all the way to the other. You’ll notice there are no messy drips, runs or splashes, because this is a nice thick, gel. It goes were you put it. Wait about 2-3 minutes and then with the second clean cloth wipe away any excess--smoothing it across the surface with the grain.
